From Cabbage Patch Kids to Honeydews!

I know, I know!  It has been nearly 2 months since my last post.  So much has happened and we have been so busy, but I thought I had better get it updated since my pregnant days are numbered.  My baby boys have progressed from cabbage patch kids to the size of honey dews.  I can't believe how fast they are growing and how soon they will be here.  It is so scary, overwhelming and exciting that I can't even describe my emotions at this time.

In April Barb and Becky threw me another baby shower.  It was so much fun.  Friends and family were able to come and so many nice things were given to us.  Barb made her infamous egg rolls, which were a hit as usual, there was a chocolate fountain, fruit,  cupcakes and much more.  It was so yummy.

Finals were the beginning of May, and I was able to get finished with minimal headaches.  I was so happy to be done, I could hardly stand it.  Right after finals were over, my co-worker/friend, Jenny, threw me a luncheon baby shower at our corporate office.  The gals there are so nice, I really do miss working with all of them.  Once again, I received many nice gifts and some money which we put toward our second crib.

The rest of May has been somewhat of a blur.  The remodel of the basement finally went underway and things started to happen.  After the last 3 weeks of craziness, we are finally, almost finished.  The painting is done, the carpet/tile is done, the kitchen cabinets and counter tops are installed, the electrician came and finished all the electrical work, and now we are just waiting for the plumber to come (supposedly Tuesday morning) to finish up the plumbing in the kitchen.  I finally got to start putting together the nursery, which has been so much fun.  I got our car seats out and the snuzzlers in ready go.  I got our travel swing put together, and now we are just waiting for the 2nd crib to arrive on Wednesday and we will have almost everything done in there.  Sometimes I just go in and look at the car seats and it gets me super excited.  They are so cute.  Jesse keeps telling me, "wait til the boys are in them, then you will think cute!"  He is so right.

May also brought my first real challenge in this pregnancy.  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  I knew it would be hard to not eat desserts and candy, but nothing could have prepared for the biggest shock of what I would have to sacrifice.....MILK!  Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love milk.  Before I was pregnant, I probably drank close to 2 gallons of milk myself per week.  During the pregnancy this particular craving only increased.  I was drinking, lets just say a lot more than that.  When I met with the dietician to learn how to control the diabetes with my diet I was expecting to hear, cut back on desserts, candy, bread, pasta, etc.  She did mention all of these things, however I also learned that milk is a carbohydrate culprit.  I have cut back on my milk intake by more than half.  That, by far, has been the hardest thing.  I also have to prick my finger 4 times a day to check my blood sugar levels.  I am so happy that this is more than likely a temporary disease.  I have so much more respect for what diabetics go through.  I have already submitted my treat order with Jesse, as soon as these babies come out, I will have one large indulgence, but then I might try to stick to the carb counting....why you might ask, let me tell you.

This past week when I weighed in at the doctors office, I had lost 4 pounds.  The babies are still growing at a perfectly normal weight, so no worries there, but because of this new diet I lost weight.  So officially since I found out I was pregnant I have gone down, then up, and now down again......my official weight gain so far is 3 pounds.  That's right.....3 POUNDS!  I realize I have at a little under a month to go, but I should not gain too much weight with my pregnancy, which will give me all the motivation in the world, to get the weight off, and get in shape afterward.  At least that is the plan.  We will see how I feel after delivery and caring for 2 infants at the same time.  He He!!!!

Anyway, 33 1/2 weeks going strong.  We are holding out for 37 weeks (that is when my sister will be here and that is considered full term for twins).  I know I can make it.  In our ultrasound on Thursday everything was holding up strong and the boys were weighing in at 4 pounds 10 ounces a piece (right on schedule).

Here are the 32 week comparison photos.  It still blows my mind.  My boys are not both head down however.  Baby A is head down in my pelvis (as shown), but baby B is breech.  They are both moving a lot too.  I love to watch my belly  move around like waves in an ocean, it is so cool.  I believe that they are truly getting squished in there because baby B pokes his little bum out on a pretty regular basis.  I can even cup it with my hands.  It almost appears to be a hernia.  It is so crazy looking.  Anyway, I will try to post weekly throughout the remainder of the pregnancy, and I will definitely post when my little guys arrive.
